Al Diaz, president of Tire Kingdom International (TKI) Inc., died Sept. 26 following an illness, officials at Tire Kingdom Inc. said. Mr. Diaz was 59.
Mr. Diaz was born in Mexico City and moved to the U.S. with his mother when he was 8 years old. In high school he was involved with ROTC, which taught him leadership and discipline, his family wrote in his obituary.
Mr. Diaz started working in the tire business as a truck driver for the former Empco Industries in Glendale, Calif., in 1969. He worked his way up the chain and was named general manager of Empco and later vice president of national sales.
