New giant mold, new vistas; J&M Tire expansion boosts firm's retreading capability.(Special Report)

J&M Tire International Inc. has enhanced its ability to process and repair the largest off-the-road (OTR) tires on the market with the addition of a 57-inch mono-cure stand-alone mold/press and ancillary equipment to its Oshawa retread plant.

J&M Tire's project-begun in 2005 and completed mid-2007 at a cost of about $7 million-includes a 180-inch autoclave, two computerized Marangoni S.p.A. tire builders, a Marangoni buffer and five new molds, including the 57-inch mono-cure mold from Ohio Machine & Manufacturing Co. Inc., which J&M President Jim Michaud said is the largest of its type in the world.
