Duncan Tire Co. has developed a tradition of its owners marrying into the business.

Owner F. Scott Beasley, 61, is the son-in-law of the company founder, the late William Duncan, who invited him into the tire business in 1970. He took over ownership in 1982 and later brought in his two sons-in-law to help run the Dublin-based dealership.

"Nobody looks after your business like family, Mr. Beasley said. Time will tell if the tradition continues as his two daughters' children are still in grade school.

Not just marriage but the fates may have steered Mr. Beasley to his life-long career. "I was meant to be here (at Duncan Tire). I was born down the streeton Duncan Street, he noted.
