BUDGET RECOVERY: The scramble to increase the Corps' civil works budget for 2005, however minimal the increments might be, has already begun. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has scheduled a hearing for Feb. 26, to consider "agency budgets and priorities for fiscal 2005." The hearing should provide a forum for constituency groups to make their case for increased federal support.
On the Senate side, Sen. Pete Domenici (RN. M.), chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources committee, expressed concern about adequate funding for several federal agencies.
