Applied Multivariate Statistical Analysis (4th ed.), by Richard A. JOHNSON and Dean W. WICHERN, Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice-Hall, 1998, ISBN 0-13-834194-X, xvi 816 pp., $89.

This is a very classical book in multivariate analysis (MVA). Its first edition was published in 1982. I bought a copy as my principal MVA reference. PC's did not exist yet, and textbooks did not integrate statistical computing. Three editions later, the book still seems mostly as though it was written 30 years ago. There are a handful of little insert boxes with SAS code for the analyses, and there are bigger boxes showing some output. All the datasets are included on a floppy disk.
