Baskin-Robbins has formed an alliance with Chicago-based Dean Foods Co. under which Baskin-Robbins' independently owned-and-operated franchised stores throughout the United States will purchase ice cream products from Dean Foods. The production will be handled at four Dean Foods locations which are already supplying Baskin-Robbins units around the country: AltaDena Dairy in City of Industry, CA; Creamland Dairies in Albuquerque, NM; Barber Dairy in Birmingham, AL; and Dean's Belvidere, IL ice cream facility.

The exclusive supply arrangement gives Dean $85 million in additional ice cream sales and more effectively utilizes Dean's existing production capacity while extending its distribution reach from coast to coast. Howard Dean, chairman and chief executive...
