Things are going well for Matterhorn ice Cream, which announced this month that it would be doubling the size of the work force in its company's Caldwell, Idaho home base, adding 50 new production jobs and ten new office positions. The increases follow upon the company's merger earlier this year with Salem, OR-based Deluxe Ice Cream, and Vitafreze Frozen Confections of Sacramento, CA. "The environment in the grocery industry has changed, with the big getting bigger, and we needed a broader product line," said Matterhorn's owner Tom Nist. The combined production capacity of the three companies is over 1.8 million units per day.
