Dairy Management Inc. (DMI) is sponsoring a symposium on dairy's role in managing weight and reducing the risk of Metabolic (or Insulin Resistance) Syndrome at this year's Institute of Food Technologists Annual Meeting and FOOD EXPO in Chicago, IL on Monday, July 30. Metabolic Syndrome has been linked to obesity, cardiovascular disease and increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

DMI notes that more than 50 million Americans may be living with Metabolic Syndrome and an estimated 66% of all U.S. adults are either overweight or obese, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, making weight management a concern for the food industry.
