This is the ninth straight year that State Ways has contacted top control state officials in the 19 jurisdictions and asked them to provide an overview of recent initiatives in their respective states. As we have seen in the past, several common themes emerge from the state overviews. First, virtually all control state executives continue to report year-over-year sales and revenue increases, with many gains in the high single-digit percentages. In many instances this robust growth has translated into increased contributions from beverage alcohol operations to the states' general funds, as well as additional dollars to devote to important programs--whether it be overdue staffing increases, capital improvements, technology upgrades, etc.--in the agencies themselves.
