Golden Valley Electric earns top marks for safety.(Member News)

Golden Valley Electric (Fairbanks, Alaska) continues to prove that safety is a top priority, and a recent safety accreditation by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) rated GVEA a 95 percent, overall. Seventy percent or greater is required for accreditation.

"This puts us at 18 years of continuous accreditation," said GVEA's Job Training and Safety Officer Phil Newton. "That's a significant accomplishment."

NRECA's Safety Accreditation Observation Team arrived on July 11 to inspect Golden Valley's facilities, including the Healy power plant. The inspection includes employee interviews and on site observation of procedures.
