GHGs dominated April meeting.(Environmental Task Force Update)

At the April 23, 2007, meeting of the NWPPA Environmental Task Force (held in Tacoma, Wash.), one issue dominated the meeting: the laws and regulations for greenhouse gases (GHG). The April 2, 2007, U.S. Supreme Court 5 to 4 decision recognizing the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) authority under the Clean Air Act to regulate GHGs (usually defined as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluoric carbons, perflouro carbons, and sulfur hexafluoride, collectively known as the Kyoto 6) from motor vehicles. Significant as this Court decision is, the ongoing international, federal, state, and local lawmaking regarding GHG is overwhelming.
