IETF ADOPTS ENHANCED BRIDGE CONTROL PROTOCOL.

Anritsu, Richardson, Texas, has announced that the Bridge Control Protocol (BCP) that it co-authored with Cisco Systems, Inc., has been adopted as an industry-wide standards track document. Designated by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) as RFC2878, the enhanced protocol makes it significantly easier to implement BCP in the high-speed hardware logic that assures wire-speed operation of today's Layer 2/3/4 switches. The new protocol allows switches to support modern LAN standards such as Virtual LANs (VLANs) and Link Aggregation efficiently over MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) and WAN links.
