COURT DRAWS ONLINE BOUNDARIES. Schools should not worry about having to traipse across the country to defend a lawsuit in another state for content merely posted on its Web site, a recent California Supreme Court ruling indicates.

In a case that was being watched by Web publishers and educators, the court ruled that a California company cannot sue an Indiana resident in the state of California.

A lower court ruling in favor of the DVD Copy Control Association, which had attempted to sue former Purdue University student Matthew Pavlovich for copyright infringement, had scared those in the education and publishing community.
