McGill University's Reproductive Centre.(success with in vitro maturation)(Brief Article)
0 Comments | Alberta Report, December, 1999 | by McGOVERN, CELESTE
* Scientists at McGill University's Reproductive Centre have reported success with maturing women's eggs outside of their bodies, the CBC reported (cbc.ca/cgi-bin/templates/view.cgi?/news/1999/11/17/invitro99l117). Seang Lin Tan is the first doctor in Canada to have performed the technique called in vitro maturation.
The technology reduces the hormones women are required to take for in vitro fertilization because it allows their eggs to ripen in a dish rather than in their ovaries. It also moves one step closer to eliminating any need for women from reproductive technology.
