Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:LVLT), Broomfield, Colo., has been selected to deliver a ten-fold capacity upgrade to WiscNet, the University of Wisconsin System's Research and Education Network. Under the terms of the agreement, Level 3 will boost the capacity it delivers to WiscNet from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps.
"We turned to Level 3 for its cost-efficient, reliable IP services that will continue to allow us to grow and scale WiscNet," said Mike Schlicht of the University of Wisconsin System. "The dramatic increase in capacity will allow further information and resource sharing among education organizations, which are key pillars of WiscNet."
