Ebiz Division's Alpha Systems Break Price Barriers

UNIX Update, Oct, 1999

TheLinuxStore a division of EBIZ Enterprises, Inc. (OTC BB:EBIZ), a leading manufacturer and e-commerce distributor of Linux-based computer systems, has introduced new high-performance Element-L Alpha systems starting at just $1,599.

The Element-L Alpha Systems incorporate the Red Hat Linux 6.0 operating system, (Nasdaq:RHAT), and are based upon next-generation motherboards from Alpha Processor Inc. (API). API provides the world's fastest 64-bit microprocessors and related technologies. These processors are used in demanding applications ranging from Hollywood special effects, to chemical and nuclear simulations.

"The Element-L Alpha Systems effectively lower the cost of entry into the Alpha market. Allowing a larger consumer audience the benefit of true 64-bit processing", stated EBIZ CTO, Steve Hindle.

TheLinuxStore will initially offer two fully configured Alpha systems, a 533 MHz and a 600 MHz system. These systems are designed to deliver high performance computing in a cost-effective package. Ideal for use as high-end workstations or departmental servers, the systems include the following:

A 21164 Alpha Processor (533 or 600 MHz),

Red Hat Alpha Linux 6.0,

128M. PC-100 SDRAM (ECC),

10G IDE Hard Drive,

64 Bit Sound Card,

3.5" Floppy, CD-Rom, Speakers, Keyboard, Mouse

"Utilizing Red Hat Alpha Linux and API's cutting-edge Alpha solutions gives cost-conscience customers of TheLinuxStore, a high-performance alternative," said Jeffrey Rassas, CEO of TheLinuxStore.

"With these configurations priced 20-30% less than competitive product offerings, these Element-L Systems will invigorate the market for Alpha systems. We recognize that Alpha is emerging as a platform of choice within the Linux community, and we are committed to providing a broad selection of Element-L Alpha Systems that meet the needs of this growing market."
