Fast-Cure Technology Improves Flexible Foams.(Brief Article)(Product Announcement)
Plastics Technology, March, 2000
A new PUR foam processing system reportedly produces flexible slabstock foam with superior IFD values and surpasses EPA requirements for VOC emissions. The patented technology was developed by TAS (Toxic Air Stripper) Enterprises, LLC of Mooresville, N.C. Formed in 1997, TAS has licensed Periphlex USA Ltd., also of Mooresville, as the exclusive supplier of machinery for the process.
"Cure-Flex" foam produced with TAS technology is said to provide highly cosistent IFD valuse of 2-4 lb, despite seasonal changes of humidity and temperature. The previous industry standard was 7-12 lb IFD, TAS says. Cure-Flex foam reportedly improves cushioning comfort for consumers and minimizes rejects and formulation adjustments for manufacturers.
