PC/ABS blend is halogen-free.(KEEPING UP WITH Materials)
Plastics Technology, October, 2005
A new halogen-free PC/ABS from Bayer MaterialSeience, Pittsburgh, meets UL 94V-0 at 1.5 mm thickness. Bayblend FR 3000BBS081 is a non-reinforced grade that produces no mold plate-out and no more out-gassing than a non-FR PC/ABS, says Bayer. The material reportedly also retains good mechanical properties at high and low temperatures. Its UL 746B relative thermal index (maximum long-term use temperature) is about 75 C (167 F) with impact stress and 85 C (185 F) without impact, at a wall thickness of 1.5 mm. Cash boxes for automated teller machines molded of this resin pass drop tests at -20 C (-4 F). Tel: (412) 777-2000 * PTDirect: 468PT
