Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW), Glenview, Ill., has acquired Instron Corp. of Norwood, Mass. Instron is a major producer of mechanical testing instruments. ITW has 650 business units that make a variety of industrial machinery, materials, and supplies, as well as metal and plastic products.
