Electric presses get clamp & injection upgrade.(KEEPING UP WITH Injection Molding)

Wider platens, a new clamp design, and a new injection unit mark the latest upgrades to the Roboshot S-2000iB all-electric line from Fanuc Ltd. in Japan. Upgraded models of 50 to 300 metric tons were introduced at the recent International Plastics Fair in Tokyo. The formerly square platens have been widened. Fanuc (represented here by Cincinnati Milacron, Batavia, Ohio) also developed a new two-piece, highly rigid moving platen that pushes on the center of the mold instead of the corners, distributing stresses more uniformly. The new design reportedly reduces mold pressure variation by up to 70%.
