New BMC targets solar panels.(KEEPING UP WITH: Composites)

Plastics Technology, November, 2006

A new bulk molding compound is formulated for residential solar panels. Polyester-based BMC 44-10SP from IDI Composites International, Noblesville, Ind., provides structural rigidity, uv resistance, and fire-code compliance. It is used in solar roofing tiles from Marley Eternit in the U.K. The BMC is used for the integral backing support frame and solar panel interface. The compression molded components are said to cut costs because they consolidate parts such as lugs, fittings, and electrical junction boxes. Tel: (317) 773-1766 * PT Direct: 753LM
