NASA SELECTS METASTREAM TO PROVIDE 3-D INTERACTIVE VIEWING ON SHUTTLE WEB SITE.(Government Activity)

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is using MetaStream 3-D streaming technology from MetaCreations Corp. at its interactive Shuttle Small Payloads Project (SSPP) Web site (http://sspp.gsfc.nasa.gov/3d/index.html) to help visitors better visualize how the SSPP transports carrier systems for the Space Shuttle. A big improvement over 2-D images, the 3-D streaming technology allows NASA's Web site visitors to view, rotate and zoom in on 3-D carrier system images.

The 3-D approach helps people visualize the many designs and configurations that are possible and assists in determining geometric capability of potential payloads, NASA says.
