Cases have been referred before the Centre by major companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, private individuals, celebrities and organisers of sporting events, and involve parties from 53 countries, proof of the international dimension of the problem. Statistics concerning the geographic spread of plaintiffs and defendants broadly reflect the global spread of Internet connections.
The majority of cases referred before the Centre involve parties from the United States, which accounts for more than half of all plaintiffs (299) and defendants (332). Of the 179 decisions passed down thus far, 147 have resulted in the transfer of the domain name to the plaintiff.
