FRANCE'S BVRP PURCHASES AMERICAN SOFTWARE PUBLISHER VICOMSOFT.

France's BVRP Software group, specialised in communications software for PCs, announced in a 7 July press release that it has bought Vicomsoft, the American Internet software publisher, for "slightly more than USD6 million" (Euro 6.27 million). According to the company spokesman: "The cost of the acquisition represents approximately three times Vicomsoft's 1999 earnings - a very reasonable amount in view of the particularly strategic nature of this acquisition".

Vicomsoft brings its products specialised in access sharing (several PCs connected to the same line; access control (user right of access on the basis of site content); "cache" technology which permits Internet pages to be viewed off-line; and "fire wall" technology (protection against outside intrusion)....
