The final merger agreement between US television network NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment "should be concluded by the end of September ", the CEO of Vivendi Universal (VU), Jean-Rene Fourtou, told a press conference on September 2. The French media and communications group announced on September 2 that exclusive negotiations were being conducted with NBC's parent company, US conglomerate General Electric (GE), with a view to merging NBC and VUE, but that details of the final agreement had still to be worked out. Mr Fortou said that the sum for which VUE would be sold to NBC, was "a good sum, which will probably mean that we will take no loss or devaluation on our accounts". VUE is valued at Euro 15 billion in the accounts of VU, which controls 86% of the capital....
