MEP Ruth Hieronymi shook hands with many people after the 8 May meeting of the European Parliament's Culture Committee (CULT), of which she is the rapporteur for the revision of the Television Without Frontiers (TVWF) Directive. To the sound of applause, Hieronymi (EPP-ED, Germany) placed the (almost) final full stop to the revision of a directive which has been regulating European audiovisual media services since 1989, and first revised in 1997. The CULT Committee can now celebrate its agreement with the latest compromise proposed by the German Presidency of the EU.
