GALILEO : COMMISSION OUTLINES FINANCING PLANS.(European Union. European Commission)

The European Commission confirmed on 19 September that it wanted to use only EU financing for the deployment phase of the European satellite navigation programme Galileo. The scenario it proposes, which has been submitted to the European Parliament and the Council under the co-decision procedure, requires 3.4 billion in funding for the period 2007-2013. Currently, under the EU's medium-term (2007-2013) budget, only one billion euro has been set aside for the Galileo project. The Commission therefore proposes that 2.1 billion be reallocated from EU expenditure in other areas (heading 2 - preservation and management of natural resources and heading 5 - administration) from unused money from the 2007 budget and money from the 2008 budget that has not yet been allocated....
