COMMITTEE BACKING FOR WEBTV.(Brief article)

The European Parliament's Committee on Budgets accepted, on 10 March in Strasbourg, releasing the 9 million set aside from the 2008 budget to fund the EP's webTV project for this year. All MEPs voted in favour, except the rapporteur, Ville Itala (EPP-ED, Finland), who abstained. The EP's Bureau (the president and 14 vice-presidents) already gave its support for launching the online parliamentary channel EuroparlTV', based on the prototype put together by the Belgian firm Mostra.

According to the Parliament's spokesperson, it will be three months before the service will be accessible to the public at the address europarltv.europa.eu. It will be available in 22 languages and will offer access to four different channels' with a total of 300 hours of broadcasting...
