With just weeks to go before the race for the headquarters of the new European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) could be decided, the three top contestants have turned up the heat and lobby decision makers in Brussels and across Europe. Budapest, Vienna and Wroc aw are all trying to whip up high-level support for their bids ahead of the crucial decision, which could be taken at the European Council in June.

Wroc aw, the fourth largest city in Poland and the target area of several large foreign investments in the past years, seems to have taken the lead in public lobbying. "In the European Parliament, we are always a target for lobbyists. But the lobbying by Wroc aw is the hardest I have ever seen," said German MEP Jorgo Chatzimarkakis (ALDE)....
