TECHNOLOGY : EU APPROVES AID FOR LCD PLANT IN CAMPANIA.

An aid scheme for the creation of the first European plant, based in Campania (Italy), for the production of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels was cleared by the European Commission, on 16 April. The EU executive approved under state aid rules the grant of 180 million in aid by the Italian authorities to Digital Display Devices (DDD) to finance the construction of a plant that will manufacture thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels and partially assemble TFT-LCD modules for flat screens for TV sets and computers.
