FIXED TELEPHONY : EU EXECUTIVE APPROVES ITALIAN REGULATOR'S COMMITMENTS.

The measures proposed by the Italian telecommunications regulatory authority (AGCOM) to reduce termination rates for all alternative fixed network operators (other than Telecom Italia) have been deemed satisfactory by the European Commission, according to a letter sent by the latter to Rome, on 10 April. The objective is "cheaper consumer services across the EU," reiterated EU Information Society Commissioner Viviane Reding.
