EIB LOAN FOR TELECOM ITALIA.

Tech Europe, May, 2008

The European Investment Bank is stepping up its support for Telecom Italia's investments in research, development and innovation in Italy with a loan of 200 million, the bank said, on 11 April. This is the second and final tranche of a total 400 million loan. A first tranche of 200m was signed in November 2007.

The new loan will contribute to developing Telecom Italia's innovative information and communication technology infrastructure, hardware and software applications as well as facilitating improved internet, multimedia and telecom services. In addition, it will underpin the provision of services that stimulate the further development of broadband communications infrastructure.
