UC SAN DIEGO TO PAY $9.5 MILLION FOR 4 VARIAN MRI SYSTEMS.(Brief Article)

Varian, Inc. (Nasdaq:VARI), Palo Alto, has announced that the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), in cooperation with the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, will purchase four research Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems valued at approximately $9.5 million.

The four systems, scheduled to be installed in October 2001 at the UCSD Center for Functional MRI, will enable UCSD and the Salk Institute to conduct an extensive range of research including neuroscience, cardiovascular mechanics, and advanced bioengineering.
