JORDAN: PARLIAMENT AT ODDS OVER WTO MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT.(World Trade Organization)(Brief Article)

According to "Jordan Times", most deputies are predicting a green light for a draft law on the ratification of the World Trade Organization (WTO) membership agreement, which the Lower House of Parliament referred to its Economic and Finance Committee for review. But some of the committee members, concerned that eliminating trade barriers will result in fierce competition from foreign goods, agreed only reluctantly to review the draft and urged the government to create a strategy to enable local industries to deal with the feared flood of imports.
