ALGERIA: ALGERIA TO JOIN A SOUTH MEDITERRANEAN - NATO DIALOGUE.(Brief Article)

According to the North Africa Journal, Algeria is to announce in the next few days that it agreed to join the political dialogue engaged by NATO with southern Mediterranean countries. Six southern Mediterranean nations have already began since 1994 discussing with NATO issues of security in the region.

These countries are Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania, Egypt, Jordan and Israel. According to official sources in Algiers, NATO has invited Algeria to join this dialogue on February 16th. Algeria's involvement in this dialogue is a further indication of a normalization of its role in the world. It is a step toward braking the isolation it found itself over the last decade.
