TURKMENISTAN: STUDY ON ASSOCIATED GAS EXTRACTED AT OFFSHORE FIELDS AND ADJACENT ONSHORE SITES SUBMITTED.(Brief Article)
IPR Strategic Business Information Database, April, 2000
Three foreign companies that are developing oil fields in western Turkmenistan under production-sharing agreements - the British "Monument Resources Petroleum Ltd.", the Malasian "Petronas Carigali,", and United Arab Emirates' "Dragon Oil" - have submitted a study to the Turkmen government on uses of associated gas extracted at offshore fields and adjacent onshore sites.
The study was prepared in association with the British "Dresser Equipment Group" and specialists from the Turkmen Ministry for the Oil and Gas Industry, and deals with opportunities for exporting both natural and associated gas from the said areas. The main conclusion from the study are that associated gas should be exported in its natural form rather than flared, as is the current practice.
