CYPRUS: COCA-COLA NEAR EAST TO RELOCATE TO BEIRUT.(Brief Article)

According to Cyprus Weekly (June 23, 2000), Coca-Cola Near East will move from Cyprus to Beirut next month. Coca-Cola indicated that the move was not 'anti-Cyprus,' rather part of company global policy. Coca-Cola Near East Public affairs officer Antoine Tayyar, remarked that the move is intended to locate the company closer to its markets.
The company was based in Nicosia for seven years and served Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen and non-Coca-Cola drinking markets into which it intends to expand. The Nicosia offices employed a 36 person-staff, of which, 26 people in management positions were moved to Beirut. The company will relocate to Lebanon on July 15, 2000.
