JAPAN: SK TELECOM TO START ROAMING SERVICE.(with NTT Mobile Communications Network Inc.)(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)

According to the Korean Herald (June 6, 2000), SK Telecom (SKT) yesterday announced that it would start roaming service in Japan in conjunction with NTT DoCoMo starting June 15. A company official disclosed that in Korea, the user can continue to use his or her own number but needs to use a number assigned by NTTDoCoMo while in Japan.
SKT conveyed that it intends to offer approximately 2,000 wireless handsets to customers on long-term lease. The handsets will cost approximately 50,000 won per month with a minimum lease period of six months, company sources revealed.
