CHINA: ONE MILLION COMPANIES TO BE WIRED TO THE INTERNET.(Brief Article)

According to ChinaTopNews (June 23, 2000), the Chinese government will put more than one million companies on the Internet within one year to sharpen their competitive edge in the global market, according to local sources. One million small enterprises, 10,000 medium-sized enterprises and 100 large firms will be included in a plan devised by the Ministry of Information Industry and the State Economic and Trade Commission.
A national teleconference to be held later this month will signal the start of the second phase of China's plan to boost its IT/Internet sectors.
