HUNGARY: VOJVODINA HUNGARIANS FARE WELL IN YUGOSLAV ELECTIONS.

The Federation of Vojvodina Hungarians fared "extremely well" in the elections, winning an absolute or relative majority in eight municipalities, thus "exceeding even the most optimistic expectations," Jozsef Kasza, leader of the federation told "Magyar Hirlap" of 26 September. Kasza said it has been shown again that ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina are a united community.
In Budapest, Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi welcomed the community's good performance and expressed his satisfaction that the democratic opposition in the province had been able to increase its strength in local government bodies.
