According to Al-Ayam newspaper, the 5th Congress of the 15-Nations' Bloc Federation of Chambers of Commerce took place in the middle of June 2000 in Cairo. The newspaper notes that the following individuals attended the event: Federation Secretary-General Muhammad Farid Khamis, Secretary-General of the Economic and Social Development Foundation Dr.
Hussein Al-Jamal, Egyptian Minister for Economic Affairs Dr. Yussuf Boutrous Ghali, Ambassador Dr. Munir Zaharan, and Chairman of the Lebanese International Chamber of Commerce Adnan Al-Qasar. The newspaper further notes that reciprocal trade between the 15-nation bloc and Egypt grew from $808.7 million in 1994 to $1.6 billion in 1998, and then fell to $1.5 billion in 1999.
