JAPAN: TELECOM ITALIA MOBILE JOIN THE DOCOMO ALLIANCE.(Brief Article)

According to Japan Daily (January 19, 2001), yesterday telecom Italia Mobile joined KPN Telecom of the Netherlands and Japan's NTT DoCoMo. This move allows them to offer internet services over mobile phones in Europe, possibly by the end of this year. The three plan to offer DoCoMo's i-mode mobile internet service, which has won over 17 million subscribers in Japan since February 1999.

The group plans services such as interactive games, e-mail, images and a range of location-based information, initially targeting the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Belgium.
