According to Al-Bayan newspaper (January 10, 2001), the Head of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Said Al-Maktoum, said that the sales of the Duty Free Market at the Dubai International Airport hit Dh 800 million ($220 million) in 2000. This figure implies a 17% jump compared with 1999. The Dubai Duty Free Market has recently celebrated its 17th anniversary.
