A new report by Pyramid Research details ARPU segmentation among the various services and programs offered by Morocco's two GSM operators, Maroc Telecom and Medite. Morocco's mobile market will remain a duopoly until August 2003 at the earliest, as per the terms of Meditel's licence. "Meditel's performance, notably in the marketing sphere since it commenced operations in August 1999, has won it nearly a quarter of the mobile services market to date; subscriptions stand at just under a million," said Joseph Braude, Pyramid Research Middle East / North Africa analyst.
Maroc Telecom's ARPU remains higher than Meditel's, he said, reflecting the 270,000 contract subscriber base it had built up over its four years of monopoly. 20% of the incumbent's customers are...
