QATAR: AL-JAZEERA TV DEFENDS KUWAITI EXPANSION, DENIES ISRAELI INVOLVEMENT.(Brief Article)

According to Al-Bayan newspaper (April 30, 2001), the Chairman of the Board of the Qatari Al-Jazeera Satellite Television Channel, Sheikh Hamad Bin Thamer Al-Thani, rejected rumors that opening the Al-Jazeera office in Kuwait deliberately aims to damage the image of the State of Kuwait and its people.
Sheikh Hamad added that opening an office in Kuwait facilitates immediate live television coverage of events in Kuwait. Sheikh Hamad also strongly rejected rumors that an Israeli figure stands behind the financing of Al-Jazeera television.
