SAUDI ARABIA: FRENCH ALSTOM POWER SIGNS $408 MILLION CONTRACT.(Saudi Electricity Company)(International Pages)(Brief Article)

According to Al-Hayat newspaper (June 5, 2001), the Saudi Minister of Electricity and Industry and the Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Electricity Company, Hashem Yamani, recently signed a $408.8 million contract with the French Alstom Power Company. Under the contract, the French enterprise will execute the second phase of establishment of the electricity generation station in the Saudi region of Shuayba.
Alstom Power is expected to construct the fourth and fifth units of the station, to have a 750 megawatts capacity, over the next 15 months.
