CHINA: UNICOM'S NET PROFIT RISE BY 11.8 TIMES.(Brief Article)

China Unicom, China's second largest mobile phone operator, has announced that net profits for the first half of this year have increased by 11.8 times to 2.19 billion yuan (US$264.6 million), since the same period last year. The company's total revenue for the first six months of this year amounted to 13.62 billion yuan (US$1.65 million).
This figure reflects an increase of 29.6% since the same period in the previous year. Revenue generated from cellular business amounted to 9.45 billion yuan (US$1.142 billion), reflecting an increase by 79.8% from the first half of last year. In addition revenue generated from long distance, data and Internet business totaled 1.37 billion yuan (US$165.5 million), reflecting an increase of 465.8% since the same period last year....
