Al-Hayat newspaper reports on a visit in February 2001 by a delegation from the UN special committee handling reparations for Gulf War victims. The newspaper quotes from a statement made in the middle of February 2001 by Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ramzi Azaddin.
He said that the committee would consider claims submitted by the Ministries of Defence and Transport as well as the Civil Aviation Authority and Cairo International Airport Administration. He added that the Ministry of Defence was claiming $107 million, the Ministry of Transport $11.4 million, the Civil Aviation Authority $7 million, and Cairo International Airport Administration $3.5 million.
