OMAN: DEVELOPMENT OF A CELLULAR TELEPHONE NETWORK.(Motorola Inc. wins contract)(Brief Article)

The KSA Today newspaper quoted a source in the local communications company who told the paper in early August 2001 that the American communications company, Motorola, won the tender to develop and extend the cellular telephone network of the company in the Sultanate, at a cost of $20 million.

The source added Motorola will build new antennas in rural areas and extend the coverage of existing antennas. The paper noted that the Omani communications company is a government company with exclusive rights to the cellular telephone network in the country.
