The newspaper Al-Watan quotes an announcement made in the beginning of July 2001 by Qatar-Gas Company that it signed a lease for a new tanker for the shipping of natural liquid gas with Japanese shipping companies. The newspaper quotes the deputy chairman of the board of the company, Faisal Muhamad A-Suwaydi, who is also general manager of the company, who said that the Qatar Company of Maritime Shipping is also a partner in this project.
He added that the Japanese Mitsui engineering company would build the tanker, which will be able to carry 135,000 cubic meters, and that delivery of the tanker is expected at the end of 2004.
